What is an “Iridium Moment”?

An “Iridium Moment” is any instance of applying linear tools, processes, or trends of the past to predict an accelerating future. Generally speaking, the linear tools are unable to successfully anticipate exponential realities. The name is a reference to Motorola’s failed Edge initiative from the 1990s called Iridium.
